Travel Budget Planner

We designed this spreadsheet to plan and keep track of our spending as we travel around the world for a year.

On the first sheet (Estimated v Actual Spend) enter the date your journey starts in the red cell.  This will change all of the following dates to give you just over one year of planning.

You have the option to record where your journey starts and ends, the average temperature at your destination and length of visa available to you - all useful for long term planning.  In the subsequent columns you can add how much you estimate your spending to be at your destination and then how much you actually spend.  This is designed to keep you on track.

The total Estimated and Actual spend shows in the cells at the top left.  You can see the totals by category if you scroll to the bottom of the sheet BUT to make life easier we have also given you these totals on the next sheet - How I'm Doing With My Budget

Enter the total cash amount you have available to spend in the red cell on this sheet.  You'll be able to see how much you need to save to meet your targets.

Finally we have added a booking record.  We use this to keep all of our booking references, payment methods etc in one place.  It has been invaluable when our plans have changed and we need to amend bookings and arrange refunds - no more scrabbling through bank accounts to find out which credit card you paid with!
